First Email
Que tal! The past two weeks I’ve spent in the mtc, or the ccm is what we call it here in Mexico. It’s been pretty interesting living here in Mexico, even though we are surrounded by 20 foot walls I’m not used to random explosions and police sirens all night long. Nothing super exciting goes on around here as we just learn Spanish for 4 hours, learn how to teach people, and have 3 questionable meals a day.(although im the only one in my district that hasn’t gotten sick yet so im praying i keep that up 🤞)
There are a ton of really cool birds and different trees here, it’s kind of crazy how different Mexico is then the US even though we are the little bubble that is the ccm. My Spanish is for sure getting better and I can kind of understand what the Latinos here are saying but I’m still mostly lost. I also somehow got called to be my district leader which pretty much means I have to sit in more meetings which is super fun. My district is also really fun. Pretty much everyday for gym time we play basketball and I’m starting to shake the dust off and get back to when I used to play all the time.
We had a really good devotional last Tuesday by one of the members of the area presidency about working hard and always being joyful while working, because your attitude toward what you do can change everything. It was super impactful to me because even though the ccm isn’t super exciting, you can make it fun by just having a good attitude and trying your best to be like Jesus. Other than that nothing crazy has happened and I’m definitely enjoying being a missionary and getting to meet people from all over the world here, it’s been awesome. Hopefully I’ll remember to write another email before I leave for Guatemala in 2.5 weeks.
Scripture of the week
2 Nephi 2:6-7
6 Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth.
7 Behold, he offereth himself a sacrifice for sin, to answer the ends of the law, unto all those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit; and unto none else can the ends of the law be answered.
I love this scripture because it talks about the importance of Jesus Christ in our lives and how he is our savior and redeemer. He sacrificed himself for our sins that we may live with our father in heaven again.
